About

8.14.16 2Thank you for stopping by. I am Suchitra. Born and raised in India, I came to the US 16 years ago to pursue my master’s degree. I went on to complete my doctoral degree and later moved to Chicago for work.

I met, fell in love with, and got married to my Canadian husband, Aaron, in a Hin-Jew wedding ceremony 3 years after moving to the Windy City, got pregnant a year later, and became a first time mom to one of the greatest blessings of my life; our son, J (he will also be referred to as Baby J or TJ for Toddler J).

Just as things were beginning to feel settled in, we decided to move cross country from Chicago to San Jose for Aaron’s new job. I had to resign from my job in Chicago and learn to slowly accept my new role as a stay-at-home-mom (SAHM). A few months after our move to SJ, we welcomed our daughter, E, to our family. I feel extremely blessed and grateful for the life and family I have been gifted.

In addition to working as a SAHM, I blog, and co-parent. I am also a published (academic, see below and click on the image to go to the Amazon link) author and worked as a journalist in a previous life.

I am available for freelance writing work of the non-academic creative kind (or the academic kind with the right research project too). I can be reached at: contactsuchitra at gmail dot com.

I tweet @thephdmama.

In this blog, I chronicle my experiences as a mom raising multicultural children with my husband, as well as our family’s adventures.

I hope you enjoy my journey of motherhood and parenting.

Suchitra
